This book…. How am I supposed to write this review without spoilers? It took me 24 hours to digest this book before I am sitting down to write this review. I absolutely LOVED this book. It started off a bit strange, but then I quickly picked up where it was going and then the twisted sh*t started making sense to me. And twisted is lite, it was demented in a f*ing awesome way.
First the female characters name, Clove, love it. It is different, strong, and just perfect for her. She is loving, giving and takes no sh*t. Once she figures out what the heck is going on, she becomes a force to be reckoned with, and I love that. I did kind of ‘hate’ her for about 5 minutes at one part, but got over it quickly when I put myself in her shoes.
The male character is somewhat of a jackass. I really did not like him at all, but I really wasn’t supposed to like him. Towards the end, when his ‘real’ story started coming to light, I softened up for him a little, just a little, but not much.
Kathy can write details that make you feel like you are really experiencing what is going on in this story. You could smell the body odor, bad breath, and stench in the room. You could taste the metallic of the blood in your mouth when the hits land. I cannot wait to see if there is a sequel to this book, or even read Ms. Coopmans next book, I am now a HUGE fan!
I jump, catching sight of Zack out of my peripheral vision.
“Christ, you scared the shit out of me!”
I sit back in my chair with a smile on my face, placing my hand over my heart as I slump back in my seat. I laugh, finding the situation funny. Pulling my
ear buds out, I watch my brother as he strolls in and sits across from me at my desk. But he’s not laughing or smiling.
“There’s something wrong,” I say in a strangled voice.
“Yeah, there is.”
“Is . . .?”
I start crying and can’t seem to get any words to come out. My chest starts heaving and I hold onto the edge of my desk, my knuckles snow white from my
“Is he cheating on me?”
“It’s worse, Clove. Much worse.”
The way he looks at me tells me whatever his news is, it’s going to rip me to shreds.
“Wha-what is it?” I can barely choke the words out.
