Grind (verb): to weaken or destroy gradually
Macy Carrington is not the woman I once thought her to be.
What she does not allow her heart to feel, she gives with her body. The sex between us is explosive and depraved. I’ve done things with her that would never have crossed my wildest imagination, and I can’t ever seem to get enough.
But now I want more from her. I want to figure out her dark secret, expose it and then help her to heal from it. I know, without a doubt, that Macy is capable of love, and I will grind her down until I make her accept the truth of it.
Grind (verb): to wear down, polish, or sharpen by friction
Cal Carson is not the man I once thought him to be.
Strong, determined, sexy as hell and a beast in the bedroom. He is every woman’s fantasy.
He is my fantasy.
But no matter how hard Cal tries to grind me down, my heart and secrets are mine and mine alone.

In this second installment of the Legal Affairs Story, Cal and Macy start out where they left off… in bed, or on the office floor, take your pick. But the legal case that Cal is handling for Macy puts a stop to that, or so he thinks. In his head he needs to end things so his law license does not get put in jeopardy, but in his heart, he wants to figure out what makes Macy tick. Macy just wants to keep ‘sleeping’ with Cal.
Macy feels something for Cal, but she does not want to put anything more than a casual sleeping partner title on it because she doesn’t want to get hurt or to hurt him. She thinks he deserves better because she is damaged goods. Throughout the book, we are given tidbits of information leading up to why she thinks this, but never really the reason.
The blackmail is the bulk of this story, the sleaze that she had the one night fling with and his fake wife. This was a bit on the ‘are you serious’ side, but put a bit of humor into the story when you know that there is a real dark side coming.
I loved the evolution of Cal and Macy’s relationship. What started as a romp in the pantry closet is becoming much more. Cal can see that Macy is afraid and broken and he will not stop until he figures it out and makes her see that she is worthy of love. I cannot wait for the third book so see how this all comes together and what exactly happens!! Sawyer Bennett can really keep you sucked in!! If you have not started this series, I really suggest it, all of Ms. Bennett’s books are highly addicting.
